Our Coaches grew up playing soccer, now they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to provide our players the best of themselves

ALEX MOREYRA

Staff Coach

Born in Lima, Peru, he is the first Assistant Coach at Rutgers University -Newark since the fall of 2006 until now.

Kevin East in his tenure as a collegiate Head Coach of Rutgers University -Newark has had one constant Assistant Coach, Alex Moreyra. 
As the Assistant Coach in Rutgers University -Newark has helped the Head Coach bring two programs from cellar dweller status to NCAA Division III at-large tournament berths. After a 9-10-1 start in 2007, the Raiders have reeled off six straight winning seasons with five ECAC Metro Championship appearances, four New Jersey Athletic Conference berths and an NCAA D-III invitation in 2013.
Moreyra was also Assistant Coach during nine-season at New Jersey City University, since 1997 until Spring 2006

 He lettered twice in soccer while gaining a bachelor of science in communications at the Universidad Regiomontana de Nuevo Leon in Mexico. 

Moreyra received his USSF License in March of 2009. 

JONATHAN BILBAO

Staff coach

Born in Chile. Bilbao joined the Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer coaching staff in 2016.
Bilbao is a graduate of New Jersey City University and knows the NJAC well. Upon graduating, he played professionally in Portugal in 2010 and 2011 and then spent the next four seasons (2011-2014) in Malta. When he returned to the United States, he played for the Ironbound Soul as a member of the American Soccer League.
 He has been a youth soccer coach in Old Bridge, N.J. since 2014, and has coached at the Jersey Star Soccer School which works with low income youngsters. Bilbao has spent time working at the F.C. Barcelona Soccer Camp in Boston, also serving on his alma mater’s staff in 2013.
 He was recognized as one of the top midfielders in the country while he was playing at NJCU and had a great collegiate career, and after graduating he went on to play professionally.

JULIO LOBOS

Goalkeeper Coach

Born in Santiago Chile. Currently is the Goalkeeper Coach for Rutgers University – Newark.

He also has run goalkeeper clinics in Elizabeth, NJ. 
Lobos was educated at Club Deportivo Universidad de Chile. It was there that he learned the theoretical and practice activities aimed at improving the educational process of sports. As a professional goalkeeper for Universidad de Chile, he participated in many soccer tournaments throughout Europe and Australia.
 As a member of Chile’s National Team, he was a goalkeeper in the Pan-American Games in Caracas, Venezuela in 1983 and in 1987 Julio signed a professional contract to play the Granville Soccer Club in Sydney, Australia. In 1989 he was selected as Australia’s Player of the Year.
 From 1994-2011, Julio has participated in various soccer tournaments in NY and NJ.
